Alex Dugdale joins the RCVS Fellowship

We are delighted to announce that Anaesthesia Specialist, Dr Alexandra Dugdale MA VetMB DVA DipECVAA PGCert(LTHE) PhD FHEA FRCVS, has become a Fellow of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons for her ‘Meritorious Contributions to Clinical Practice’.

Alex, who has worked at ChesterGates Veterinary Specialists for many years, is one of 38 successful applicants for 2021 who made it through the rigorous application process. She will celebrate with her successful colleagues during the Fellowship Week in September this year.

Alex says “I feel very honoured indeed to have been accepted as a Fellow of the RCVS and I would like to acknowledge those many colleagues and mentors I have met throughout my career who have enabled me to pursue my combined passions of anaesthesia, research and teaching to reach this point. I look forward to becoming more actively involved with the RCVS, particularly with respect to mentoring and preceptorship for students and new graduates, and also promoting diversity and equality within the profession.”

Professor John Innes, Chair of the RCVS Fellowship, adds “I am delighted that Alex has been honoured with RCVS Fellowship and many congratulations to her. Throughout her career so far, Alex has worked tirelessly for the animals under her care whilst at the same time educating her junior colleagues in the art and science of veterinary anaesthesia and analgesia. As chair of RCVS Fellowship, I look forward to Alex contributing to the growing community of Fellows. I would also encourage other colleagues in CVS to think about applying for Fellowship if they feel they might qualify; mentoring from existing Fellows is available to potential applicants.”
