Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Surgery
Joe graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2002 and has spent the majority of his career in small animal practice since then, developing a keen interest in surgery, particularly orthopaedics.
Most recently, Joe spent the best part of 10 years in a busy referral and first opinion hospital in Bristol where he gained the RCVS Certificate in Small Animal Surgery and was awarded Advanced Practitioner Status.
Now heading up the referral service at St David’s Veterinary Referral, he’s interested in all manner of lameness cases, with joint problems (cruciate disease, patella luxation, hip dysplasia and elbow dysplasia) forming the majority of the daily caseload. Corrective osteotomies (TPLO, CCWO, TTA, TTTA, PUO, limb alignment) are performed routinely and arthroscopy can be performed as well to help in the management of these cases. Regenerative medicine and joint replacements are also areas of interest both now and for the future.
He has lots of experience in fracture and trauma cases in both dogs and cats and St David’s Veterinary Referral’s is well-placed to accept cases of this type at short notice.
