Nigel graduated with distinction from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in Edinburgh in 2002. Having been raised on a beef farm, Nigel originally started his veterinary career in mixed practice in Perthshire where he worked for six years.

He then moved down to Yorkshire where he spent 10 years as a senior vet working in a busy first opinion and referral practice in Sheffield. During this time he gained the RCVS Certificate in Small Animal Medicine, becoming an RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Medicine in 2015. Nigel joined Springfield Veterinary Group in August 2018, where he is a senior veterinary surgeon.

Nigel is experienced with all aspects of veterinary medicine, but particularly enjoys companion animal medicine with a special interest in medical oncology, haematology and endocrinology. His favourite type of work is a complex medical cases, something he is exposed to regularly as the primary inpatient vet at Springfield Veterinary Group.
