luis-filipe-louroAfter graduating in 2011 from Vasco da Gama University in Portugal, Luís completed a Master’s degree in Osteochondrosis and spent a year in ambulatory practice in Portugal. He then undertook a one-year rotating internship at the Veterinair Centrum Someren in Holland.

After finishing his internship, Luís moved to the UK and for 5 years he was responsible for the Department of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia at two renowned equine hospitals in Berkshire.

Luís subsequently completed a 3-year residency programme in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia at the University of Liverpool, focusing on small animal and equine anaesthesia, analgesia and critical care. He was awarded the Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice in Equine Lameness Diagnostics and Therapeutics in September 2020, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Veterinary Professional Studies in November 2020, both by the University of Liverpool.

A keen clinical researcher, Luís also enjoys teaching. He was awarded the Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy in February 2021.

More recently, Luis was awarded the Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia by the University of Liverpool in August 2021, and became European Specialist in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia in December 2021.

Luís’ clinical interests include small animal anaesthesia, locoregional anaesthesia and analgesia and pain management.
